Prepare for Wii Marketing Push
It has been revealed in New Media Age that Nintendo have a budget of between £10-£11 million dollars (about £6 million) which is more cash than the marketing departments have ever had to play with.
Robert Lowe, Nintendo Marketing Manager said to NMA:
"We're just in the final stages of putting our media plan together for Wii, but in terms of online our spend is way more than anything we've done before."
"There will be three main channels through which we'll be communicate Wii - online, TV and sampling - and of the top line ad budget of £10m-£11m, leading up to the December launch, a large proportion is going online."
So what will be the advertising slogan? Well it's an uninspiring "Wii Move You". But I supose when you add it to the video of game play and fantastic sound then I'm sure many will be "moved" online to buy the Wii Console.
The week or so before launch Nintendo will adverise on MSN, Yahoo, and Lycos. Lowe said "we'll completely take them over - you'll go online and see Wii everywhere."
Happy days! Let's just hope that the TV Adverts are better than these:
